Game Build Update – April 2013

 In Uncategorized

So it’s high time again that we sent out another update of how the game build is going.

Want the TLDR version? In short: We named the game (The Aetherlight), you can now customise your avatar, battle automatons, Quest, play Minigames, and complete TinyTasks.

The Aetherlight:

So, we finally named our game! You can read about the whole process here

Battle Mode!:

Battle mode is definitely a very cool feature that we have recently finished. The team has been hard at work crafting various battle animations, as well as making some awesome steampunk weapons. The devs have also done some cool stuff with the way the battle mode works. Who knew battling a raging horde of dangerous automatons could be so much fun?!

Questing:

Questing is a big part of gameplay for us, and so we have built a really robust system that allows even non-programmers to write quests. The quest engine that we have built is quite sophisticated, allowing us to created branched conversations and storylines, as well as have the player interact with objects, their inventory, NPCs, and battles. Obviously questing is the major mechanic that players will use to explore the biblical narrative and so has been important for us to make sure we do this well, and make it excellent. Our artists have also been flat out drawing all the assets required for quests, as well as some of the key NPCs that you will meet in your journey.

Avatar Customisation:

What virtual world or MMO for that matter would be complete without the ability to customise your avatar? Our artists have been drawing some pretty awesome outfits for the players avatars, and the devs have done a really good job of coding this into the game.

This is all on top of the work we have already done with TinyTasks and Minigames of course, which you can see some rough footage of here.
